About the Artist

Artist's Statement

Born in Ewell, Surrey, England. Largely self taught, but early training at Epsom & Ewell Art School. Completed Teacher Training at Dudley College,part of Birmingham University: Distinctions in Art & Craft,& Geography,following a 3 year hitch-hiking and working tour of the World. Taught Art & Pottery to GCE level and night school in Kent. Later worked with young adults in apprenticeships throughout the West Country for 3 years. Emigrated to Canada in 1966.Taught Art in Cranbrook returned to University at UBC and UVic.specializing in Art & Pottery. Opened Pottery in Kelowna, moved to Vancouver Island to develop Pottery and work with Indian artists decorating and carving pots.Opened Pottery, making stoneware, at Matticks Farm and opened gallery on Fort Street, Victoria selling B.C. artists to tourists and local collectors. Closed after 2 years when B.C. Government doubled ferry rates which curtailed tourist trade. Continued to paint part-time while working in Financial Planning environment; mainly florals and some landscapes. Frequent return visits to England influence choice of subjects, particularly landscapes in OIl and watercolour.Florals for discipline in drawing and colour.Past member of Port Moody Art Society,Opened studio at Heritage Art Gallery,Port Moody and moved to Burrard Inlet Gallery & Studios. Several one man shows: Place Des Arts,(2) Heritage Mountain Gallery, and Burrard Inlet Gallery in the past 5 years
